New Facial Sculpting Techniques

Meet Gua Sha, Chiroplastic, and Korugi — three new facial sculpting massages now at Medex Beauty Clinic. Each works differently, but all three lift, contour, and restore the face naturally.

At Medex Beauty Clinic, we've always believed that facial massage should do more than relax — it should sculpt, lift, and restore. That's why we're excited to introduce three new additions to our Facial Sculpting Massages menu: Gua Sha, Chiroplastic (Chiromassage), and Korugi. Each works differently, but together they give our clients more ways than ever to achieve a naturally lifted, contoured, and refreshed face.

Here's what makes each one worth trying.

Gua Sha: Gentle Tools, Visible Results

Gua Sha is one of the oldest facial techniques, with roots in traditional Chinese medicine, where it has been used for centuries to stimulate circulation and support the body's natural healing response. A smooth-edged stone tool is glided carefully along the contours of the face, releasing tension held in the fascia and encouraging the skin's own fluid pathways to move.

The result is a visible reduction in puffiness and a more defined, sculpted appearance — many clients notice a difference immediately after their first session. Because it also improves lymphatic flow and micro-circulation, Gua Sha is a wonderful option for anyone dealing with morning puffiness, tension, or simply looking for a brighter, more awake complexion.

Best for: de-puffing, contour definition, and an easy introduction to facial sculpting massage.

Chiroplastic Face Massage: Deep Release, Structural Lift

Chiroplastic massage, also known as Chiromassage, takes a more structural approach. Originating in Spain in the early 20th century, the technique combines classical European massage with Eastern methods, chiropractic principles, and kinesiology — working with the face the way a sculptor works with stone, locating exactly where tension has settled and gently helping it release.

Rather than working on the surface alone, Chiroplastic massage relieves fluid stagnation and stimulates the tissue's own restorative processes. Clients often notice an immediate lifting and de-puffing effect, with firmer muscle tone and improved hydration building across a series of sessions. It's particularly effective for facial asymmetry linked to tension or stress, and for anyone who holds visible tightness in their jaw, cheeks, or brow.

Best for: deep tension release, muscle tone, and structural balance.

Korugi: Bone-Deep Contour from Japan

Of the three, Korugi works the deepest. Developed in Japan by therapist Chiyo Hayashi, the technique reaches the periosteum — the tissue layer covering the bone itself — through precise, cyclical pressure applied via the surface tissues of the face. It's built on a simple physiological principle: hard and soft tissue adapt to repeated mechanical pressure over time.

By working directly at this deeper level, Korugi significantly enhances lymphatic flow and supports the tissue's natural regenerative capacity, producing a pronounced lifting effect along the cheekbones and jawline. The treatment extends beyond the face to the neck, shoulders, and body, so clients come dressed for full movement — think of it as a full structural reset, not just a facial.

Best for: facial contour, asymmetry, and a heavier-looking lower face — for clients seeking the most intensive lift in our sculpting menu.
